Method
opex.works publishes figures, and how to verify them.
Each article starts from a decision to make. An invoice that goes up without knowing which line moved. A renewal in six months. A departure to replace. A quote on the table. It closes on an amount, its assumptions, and the source that lets you challenge it.
What we publish
Figures tied to an open, dated, citable source. When an amount results from a calculation rather than a measurement, it is flagged as such, its assumptions are shown, and the calculation sheet is downloadable.
Every page carries its last review date and the estimated validity period of its figures. Past that term, the article is reviewed or withdrawn.
What we do not publish
The unit price paid by a third party for a licence. French public procurement only publishes a total amount over the life of the contract; this figure does not exist in an open source.
The content of a framework contract negotiated between a vendor and a private company.
An individual's pay, or any figure reconstructed for an identifiable company.
A turnover cost presented as a measurement when it is in fact a construction.
What we do not do
No vendor rankings, no product comparisons, no funding-round or version news, no architecture advice. Nothing here is written for someone whose job is software or systems.
Images
An image is optional and must never illustrate a figure. If an image is used, it is chosen on unsplash.com, never generated, never taken from an image search engine.
Queries by section, in English, since the Unsplash index is English-language:

Selection criteria, in order: no identifiable face, no visible logo or brand, no screen showing a recognisable interface, tight framing rather than a wide scene, neutral light, landscape orientation, original width at least 2000 px.
Processing before use: cropped to 3:1, heavily desaturated or greyscale to stay within the palette, final width 1600 px, target weight under 120 KB.
Naming: src/assets/hero/<slug-fr>.jpg, e.g. du-brut-au-decaissement.jpg.
Attribution required, even where the Unsplash licence does not require it.
credit formatted as "First Last / Unsplash". creditUrl pointing to the
photo's page, never to the author's profile, never to a search page.
Check before publishing: open the photo's page, confirm the licence shown is indeed the Unsplash licence, and copy the author's name exactly as it appears on the page. No attribution reconstructed from memory.
Corrections
An error, an outdated figure, a questionable source: write to the publisher, contact@privateer.expert. Any substantive correction is dated on the page concerned.
